No one can deny it’s easier to inspire the smaller ones. Primary school kids just love awards and sticker charts and cutsy cartoon characters.
High school kids? Not so much.
Most high schools have a positive behaviour based learning program however, the language is considerably different. Whereas primary school children are asked to keep their hands and feet to themselves, high schoolers are advised to negotiate and cooperate.
We are designing a range of materials suitable for high school as well as primary school. While the language may be more sophisticated, the message remains the same and, when approached from the right angle, high school students can be just as responsive to positive reinforcement.
We currently have a series of general classroom awards that have been well received by the high school guinea pigs (year 8 students) we tried them out on. And our range of inspirational posters, featuring quotes by some of history’s biggest achievers, are liked by both teachers and students.
If there are any additional products, or if you have any ideas that you would like to see us work on, please send us a note with your thoughts. We’d appreciate hearing your views and your thoughts on what works most successfully for high school students.
